Working on a projectPhilosophy and Methods
At One World Nursery School we believe that the learning process follows the same laws as do any other natural developmental phenomena. Our teachers consider every child as a whole, unique person with their own individual growth rate, interests and learning style. We believe that the roots of learning are sustained by a safe, secure, and appropriately stimulating environment and aim to provide these growth conditions for our young students.
Making the oceanThe didactic method and materials we use are influenced heavily by the work of Dr. Maria Montessori. Though it may sound like a strange principle for an educator, Dr. Montessori believed than no human being is educated by another person, asserting that each of us learns what we are internally motivated to learn. As educators, our goal at One World is to guide our students in their learning process rather than to fill their minds with facts. Cultivating the children´s desire to make sense of the world, the curriculum at One World is directed towards providing our students a learning environment which potentiates their natural love of discovery and mastery.

Music RoomThis goal is approached in two ways: first, by allowing each child to experience the excitement of discovery through hands-on, self-initiated learning; and second, by guiding the child, and providing language for the new and pertinent concepts which they discover during the process. For us, the process of learning is paramount, the idea being that more learning tools we provide the better equipped the child will be to face future learning situations.
